How We Got Started:
Picture It. Atlanta. 2019.
Atlanta was having an identity crisis. How could the city grow and thrive into the metropolis it has now become but still respect its roots? How did the 404 invite the new residents of the city without forgetting the residents that have always called this home? We decided we needed a meeting place. A place where residents, new and old, feel welcomed and find a common ground.
Black Coffee, was always that meeting place. That place were the artist, the businessman,& the entrepreneur could convene over a hand-crafted beverage. A place where students from the illustrious historically black college center in Atlanta could study and a spot for the ever-growing art scene in Atlanta to come alive.
A Global Pandemic, Thousands of Latte’s, Hundreds of Patrons later, Black Coffee said Good Bye to its Castleberry Beginnings in September of 2023. Castleberry had been good to us, and when we moved into the neighborhood we were the first coffee shop to open there in years. By the time we left, there were three other caffeine cousins in the local area When we started to think about what was next on our roadmap, we decided we wanted to move into another area that was without a shop to call it’s own —— and we landed on Capitol View and Downtown.
Black Coffee WestSide -
Our Newest Cafe which sits on the Westside Extension of the Atlanta Beltline. This shop will serve all the vibes you know and love from early in the AM to late in the evening. We are located at 1246 Allene Avenue, Atlanta GA 30310.
Black Coffee Downtown @ Sweet Auburn -
This is Black Coffee WestSide’s little sister with in a BIG neighborhood, Sweet Auburn. The area is rich with history, as the shop itself is inside of the historic Haugabrooks Building and a part of the newest Food Hall to be launched downtown - Front Porch ATL. This location is unique because while the cafe is quaint, patrons can sit amongst and enjoy rotating art exhibits hosted by HDDC in the Haugabrooks section of the building. The space will be open to Black Coffee Patrons during our hours of operations.
All of our spaces have wifi, the best coffee you’ll find, and vibes.
